MOSCOW (AP) Olympic women's figure skating champion Adelina Sotnikova is to make her comeback to major competition in November after skipping almost all of last season.
Sotnikova has competed in only one minor competition since beating South Korea's Yuna Kim to the Olympic gold medal last year at Sochi in a surprise result which prompted the South Koreans to complain about unfair judging.
Sotnikova was given the last entry for the Russian Grand Prix in November. That follows a year spent battling injury, and competing in the Russian version of the ''Dancing With The Stars'' TV show.
However, double Olympic champion Evgeny Plushenko will skip the entire season after a new back injury. He remains on the Russia team but has not competed since the Sochi Games, where he helped Russia to team gold but pulled out of the men's competition after injuring himself.
He insisted he remains focused on the 2018 Olympics.
''I'm continuing to train but I'm forced to skip this season. I'm being bothered by a new injury,'' he told Russian agency R-Sport. ''My focus isn't the next championships, but the Olympic Games.''

This story has been corrected to show Plushenko a double, not triple, Olympic champion.
