What a day it was for Jason Day on Thursday.
Day, the world's third-ranked golfer, was 10 under through 17 holes and facing a 44-yard shot for 59 when inclement weather suspended play at the BMW Championship. Day finished up with a par to shoot 61 and take a four-shot lead over a group of six golfers tied at 6 under.
Day wasn't the only big name to go low, though. Jordan Spieth, playing in the same group as Day, fired a 6-under 65 after capping Round 1 with a birdie.
We'll follow the action as it unfolds in Round 2 at Conway Farms in Lake Forest, Ill.:
• • •
Dustin Johnson also puts his name in at 9 under with an eagle at the last. That's a tidy little 62 for DJ. Watch him roll in the eagle effort on 18:
• • •
Jordan Spieth rolls in a 5-footer for birdie on 17 and has moved to 9-under. That puts Spieth in a tie for eighth and seven back of Jason Day.
Spieth missed a 4-footer on 16 for birdie but capitalized here. The 22-year-old is now 3 under for the day with one to play.
• • •
Daniel Berger also gets in the clubhouse at 13-under with a wedge to 5 feet at No. 18. That's a 64 for Berger and ties him for second with Todd.
Jason Day, meanwhile, is 16-under and has 35 feet for birdie on No. 17.
• • •
Brendon Todd holes out for eagle on No. 18 from 81 yards. That puts Todd at 13 under following a second-day 63.
Here's footage of the incredible shot:
• • •
That's another birdie for Jason Day, as he pitches up to a foot to get to 16 under. The Aussie's lead is no four shots.
• • •
Pretty quick comeback from Jason Day. He nails his second shot from 253 yards on the par-5 14th to 16 feet. He doesn't hole the eagle putt, but the birdie gets him back to 15 under and three ahead.
Here's his reaction to that beautiful second shot:
• • •
Jason Day bogeys No. 13 after sailing his approach shot wide right of the green into a bunker and blasting out to 10 feet. Day is now 14 under.
Daniel Berger nearly drives the green on 15 but can't get up and down for birdie. He remains 12 under and two behind.
• • •
After hitting a wayward tee shot and being forced to play his third from the tee, Daniel Berger managed to save a bogey at the par-5 14th. He dropped back to 12 under, one ahead of Kevin Na and four shots behind Jason Day.
Jordan Spieth failed to save his par at the 12th, missing a 5-footer and dropping back to 8 under.
• • •
Jason Day poured a 15-foot birdie putt into the heart of the hole at No. 12, extending his lead to two shots at 15 under.
Jason Day is now -15 through his first 30 holes. #QuickHits http://t.co/2YLVCp5prY
— PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) September 18, 2015
• • •
Rory McIlroy made a mess of his short birdie chance at the 16th, sending the downhill putt about 5 feet past the hole, but he made the comebacker to stay at 9 under.
• • •
Jordan Spieth (-9) is back within five shots of Jason Day after pouring in a 16-footer at the par-3 11th.
Meanwhile, at the 16th, Rory McIlroy stuffed his approach shot to set up a 3-footer that would put him at 10 under.
• • •
Just a few minutes after being caught atop the leaderboard, Jason Day hits an 8-footer to move to 14 under and regain the lead.
• • •
Jason Day has finally been caught. Daniel Berger rolled in his seventh birdie of the day at No. 12 from 25 feet to reach 13 under and a share of the lead. Here's a look at the putt:
Berger buries another one. He's -7 thru 12 today.

• • •
Jordan Spieth makes up for a missed opportunity at the par-5 eighth by rolling in a 10-foot birdie putt at the ninth. Spieth played the front in 2 under and is five back at 8 under.
• • •
Daniel Berger is keeping pace with Jason Day, rolling in a 12-footer for birdie at 11 to get to 12 under and within one of the lead.
• • •
Jason Day and Rickie Fowler took advantage of the par-5 eighth hole, with Day making a short birdie putt to move to 13 under and a two-shot lead, and Fowler two-putting after getting on in two to get to 5 under.
Jordan Spieth was unable to capitalize, failing to make an 11-footer for birdie. He stays at 7 under.
• • •
Daniel Berger is locked in today at Conway Farms. After making a kick-in birdie at the ninth, Berger played the front nine in 5-under 35, getting within one shot of Jason Day at 11 under.
Here are the distances of Berger's birdie putts today (in feet): 6, 7, 30, 13 and 2.
• • •
Jason Day wasn't able to convert his birdie putt at seven to make it to 13 under, but Jordan Spieth did roll in a par-saver from 11 feet to stay five back at 7 under.
• • •
Rory McIlroy is making sure he isn't forgotten about. The World No. 1 hit a 10-footer at the 11th to get to 5 under on the day and 8 under overall, four shots off of Jason Day's lead. But after a big drive at the seventh, Day has 5 feet for a birdie to get to 13 under.
• • •
Jason Day is making it very difficult for anyone to gain ground. He poured in an 18-footer at the third to move to 12 under, three shots clear of Daniel Berger and Brendon Todd.
• • •
Rory McIlroy got in on the action at the seventh, where he pitched in for eagle from 40 yards out to get to 6 under.
Slam. Dunk.

• • •
Jason Day answered by stuffing his tee shot at the 196-yard par-3 second, putting it to 3 feet and making the birdie putt. Day is now at 11 under with three players in second at 8 under.
Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler both put their approach shots within 10 feet at the second, but Spieth missed his birdie try from 9 feet while Fowler made his putt. Fowler is at 2 under after starting Round 2 bogey-birdie.
• • •
Jordan Spieth kept things going in Round 2, sticking his approach shot at the first hole to about 8 feet and rolling in the putt to join a group of four at 7 under.
Jason Day missed the fairway off the tee, but found the green on his approach. He two-putted from 50 feet to start things off with a par.
Kevin Na made his third birdie of the day at the seventh to get to 8 under.
• • •
Bubba Watson joined Kevin Na in second place at 7 under with a chip in from 72 feet. Check out the shot:
Bubba shoots. Bubba scores.

• • •
Kevin Na bounces back from an opening bogey by hitting two straight birdie putts, with his latest coming from 25 feet. Na is now in solo second at 7 under, three shots behind Jason Day.
• • •
Both Kevin Na and Harris English open Round 2 with bogeys to drop out of second place. Na missed a 3-footer at No. 1 to drop a stroke, while English three-putted from 60 feet at No. 10.
• • •
Bubba Watson joined the party at 6 under, making it a six-way tie for second behind Jason Day.
The first round is just about nearing completion, and the second round is about to get underway with golfers scheduled to go out at 10:11 a.m. EDT.
The star group of Jordan Spieth, Jason Day and Rickie Fowler is scheduled to start Round 2 at 11:39 a.m. EDT.
• • •
A bit of a pile-up has developed in second place, where five golfers are tied at 6 under, four shots off of Jason Day's lead.
Harris English, Kevin Na and Justin Thomas all finished rounds of 65 this morning to reach second place, joining Daniel Berger and Jordan Spieth at that mark.
• • •
Justin Thomas made a 10-footer for birdie at the par-5 eighth to join Jordan Spieth and Daniel Berger in second place at 6 under.
• • •
Jordan Spieth made his 4-footer for birdie to card a 6-under 65 and get into a tie for second through Round 1. Here's a look at his skilled approach:
Jordan Spieth is T2 after making birdie at his last hole for a back-nine 29. http://t.co/4UB0BIFrc6

• • •
Jason Day's birdie bid lips out, and he taps in for par to card a 1-under 61.
Here's a look at the eagle try:
Jason Day's shot for a 59 … no luck.

• • •
There will be no 59 today. Well, at least not in Round 1.
Jason Day came up short on his approach from the rough, leaving himself short by about 10 feet. He'll have that putt for a birdie and 11-under 60.
• • •
Round 1 has resumed, but Jason Day (-10) and Jordan Spieth (-5) will wait for playing competitor Rickie Fowler (-1) to tee off before they can play.
Day has 44 yards into the hole from the rough.
• • •
Jason Day is getting ready to hit his approach into 18.
