Bud Dupree already showcasing pass-rushing chops

Two games, two sacks. Steelers rookie Bud Dupree was supposed to be a bit of a project, but his raw pass-rushing skills have already paid dividends.

The No. 22 overall pick came up with a third-down sack of Colin Kaepernick in the fourth quarter Sunday when he blew by 49ers right tackle Erik Pears during Pittsburgh's 43-18 win over San Francisco. Ten days earlier, he chased down Tom Brady on his first snap as a pro.

Is getting to the quarterback easier than Dupree thought it would be?

"Nah, it ain't easy," Dupree said via the Beaver County Times. "I just have to keep getting better each game."

Dupree has been in a rotation with starter Arthur Moats, but he's ended up with more snaps than Moats in both games so far. After getting six more plays in Week 1, Dupree was on the field for 51 snaps against San Francisco while Moats had 49.

"The rotation is good," Dupree said. "I felt like we're not tired that much. The rotation keeps us fresh so we can give our best pitch. You don't want to be out there sluggish and tired and fighting through a play. We just roll it out and make the best plays happen."

Dupree says his comfort with the defense has grown since training camp, and he's having fun while out on the field. If he keeps progressing at his current pace, opposing quarterbacks will start feeling less comfortable.
