Joliet, Ill. —

It took just two laps for major drama to break out in Sunday afternoon's MyAFibRisk400.com at Chicagoland Speedway.

Heading into Turn 3 on the second lap of the opening race of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Denny Hamlin and AJ Allmendinger had contact, sending the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota spinning.

The spin flattened Hamlin's tires, and he had to limp around slowly until pit road opened and he could stop for four fresh Goodyears.. That dropped him off of the lead lap, certainly not the way Hamlin wanted to start the race.

Hamlin is one of 16 drivers in the Chase who are racing for a championship over the final 10 races of the season.
