It's official: Dominick Cruz will challenge TJ Dillashaw for the bantamweight title on Jan. 17 in Boston. The city was targeted for the championship grudge match, and the UFC confirmed the news Wednesday night.

The former bantamweight champion Cruz has not lost a fight since 2007, but he had his title stripped after fighting just once since Oct. 2, 2011, because of repeated knee injuries and surgeries. Current champion Dillashaw has won four consecutive fights and successfully defended his title twice.

The event will be televised on FS1. Tickets go on sale Nov. 13.

Joining Dillashaw vs. Cruz on the FS1 card will be heavyweights Travis Browne and Matt Mitrione. Mitrione has won three of his last four fights and four of his last six, but is coming off a June loss to Ben Rothwell.

Browne has also won four of his last six fights, but is coming off a TKO loss to his friend Andrei Arlovski in May at UFC 187. In the night's co-main event, former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis faces off against Eddie Alvarez in his first fight since losing the belt to Rafael dos Anjos in March.

Earlier on the card, Tim Boetsch and Ed Herman lock up in an exciting middleweight matchup.
