Roger Federer looked his old self in his return to the ATP World Tour at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters on Tuesday.

Federer, who was playing in his first match since 28 January, dismissed Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-3, 6-4 to move into the third round. The World No. 3 had successful arthroscopic knee surgery on 3 February and had to withdraw from the Miami Open presented by Itau because of gastroenteritis.

In the third round, Federer will face either Frenchman Jeremy Chardy or Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut.
