In the spring, Kansas City grabbed Marcus Peters with the 17th overall pick.

In the fall, Marcus Peters grabbed a pick for Kansas City — on his first regular-season play.

The former Washington Huskies star already looks at home in the Chiefs' defensive backfield. Thrown into the lineup, he jumped a Brian Hoyer pass and came up with a diving interception.

The Chiefs cashed in on Peters' big play. Set up at the 15-yard-line, quarterback Alex Smith hit tight end Travis Kelce for the first touchdown of the NFL season.

Chiefs defenders hauled in only six interceptions all last season. Peters looks capable of breaking that mark by himself.
