Watch: Harper pranks Phanatic, crushes 2 HRs, makes Nats history

Bryce Harper played many roles at Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday, including prankster, but he most notably came away from the Nationals' 4-0 win over the Phillies with a piece of franchise history.

The Nats have a history of goofing around with the Phillie Phanatic, as do many teams, and prior to Tuesday's game Harper keep the hijinks going when he stole the keys to the Phanatic's ATV, creating a comical scene.

Harper eventually returned the keys, and would later have the last laugh with his performance in the game.

The 22-year-old slugger drove in all four of the Nats' runs with a pair of home runs, providing the support for a fantastic start from Stephen Strasburg.

The blasts, which were his 38th and 39th homers of the season, helped him surpass Adam Dunn for the most home runs by a left-handed hitter in a single season in franchise history.

"I'm trying to win ballgames," Harper said when asked about the feat. "As a team, I think … we have to keep going, try to roll and do the things we can to get back [in the National League East race]. We are going to try to win as much as we can."

Prankster, slugger, and record-breaker, all in a night.

If he wraps up the season on his current pace, Harper might add another title to his résumé: MVP.

"At this point, we have a bunch of games left," manager Matt Williams said. "I don't think he is thinking about it. I would certainly not want him to start thinking about it. I would tell him to, 'Stay with your approach, keep doing what you are doing. At the end of the day, you might have a shot.'"
